Here are three potential trade ideas for New York Giants’ EDGE rusher, Kayvon Thibodeaux.

With the halfway point of the 2025 NFL season quickly approaching, the New York Giants are in a unique spot before the trade deadline.

Through seven games this season, the Giants’ 2-5 record would clearly indicate that the franchise would be considered “sellers” at the deadline. One name that is likely to be on the trade block is former 2022 first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux, who has been speculated to be on the move after the selection of defensive end Abdul Carter in the 2025 NFL Draft.

As the franchise prepares to roll out the combination of Brian Burns and Carter in the future, it would make sense for general manager Joe Schoen to receive draft capital for the upcoming NFL Draft in return for Thibodeaux.

Here are three potential landing spots for Thibodeaux before the 2025 NFL Trade Deadline.

    Indianapolis Colts

Out of all the teams looking to trade for a pass rusher at the deadline, the Indianapolis Colts would make the most sense for Thibodeaux and the Giants.

This season, under head coach Shane Steichen, the Colts currently hold a league-best 6-1 record and look to be a strong playoff contender. However, in order for the franchise to maintain its dominant stretch, it’s clear that Indianapolis must add an additional pass rusher alongside second-year defensive end Laiatu Latu. Thibodeaux could be the perfect piece to elevate the team’s defense, with him and Latu forming a dynamic one-two punch.

In return, New York could potentially land a wide receiver to help aid in the efforts of the team’s rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart. The Colts have done an excellent job of drafting and developing wideouts over the past few seasons, which puts the Giants in a position to land either AD Mitchell or Alec Pierce in exchange for the former 2022 first-round pick.

    San Francisco 49ers

Despite the organization dealing with the injury bug in 2025, the San Francisco 49ers find themselves at the top of the NFC South with nearly half of the season remaining.

Star pass rusher Nick Bosa suffered a season-ending injury during the team’s week three contest against the Atlanta Falcons, leaving the 49ers with Bryce Huff and 2025 first-round pick Mykel Williams. While Huff continues to shine for San Francisco, the franchise could use a boost on the defensive line with Williams still developing as a defensive end.

Considering the potential trade compensation, the 49ers currently hold six picks on day two of the 2026 NFL Draft, with four of those picks being in the fourth round. Since the Giants traded their 2026 third-round pick to select Dart, this would allow Schoen to recoup draft capital.

    Seattle Seahawks

Staying in the NFC West, another team that could use the aid of Thibodeaux is the Seattle Seahawks, as head coach Mike Macdonald and his squad remain in the playoff hunt.

Former New York defensive lineman Leonard Williams and DeMarcus Lawrence are leading the charge for Seattle's pass rush this season, with the duo combining for six sacks in 2025. However, Macdonald has proven to be a coach who relies on a rotation of front four defenders, which means Thibodeaux could fit into the team’s defensive game plan.

Unfortunately for the Giants, the Seahawks do not possess an ample amount of picks for the 2026 NFL Draft. But with New York’s current struggles within the team’s secondary unit, cornerback Tariq Woolen makes for an intriguing defensive back target for Schoen. Woolen’s name has been floating around in rumors as a possible trade candidate, which could ultimately be beneficial for the Giants in the long run.
