The New York Giants are about to face the biggest challenge of their season.

The New York Giants just suffered a crushing loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos last Sunday, and now, they will have to try and rebound against a team they just smoked two weeks ago: the Philadelphia Eagles.

The problem is that this game will be in Philadelphia, and the Eagles are certainly out for revenge after losing 34-17 at the Meadowlands in Week 6.

Not only that, but Philadelphia just put together a very impressive road win over the Minnesota Vikings, and it looked like Philly's aerial attack got back on track in the win (Jalen Hurts threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns).

For the Giants, this is like walking into the lion's den.

Sweeping a division rival is exceedingly difficult, especially when it comes to a team that is far better than you on paper. The Eagles may have had a bit of a rough stretch, but they are still the defending Super Bowl champions, and they are 5-2.

Meanwhile, New York just showed its vast inexperience by blowing leads of 19-0 and 26-8 in the fourth quarter against the Broncos in Week 7.

Denver dropped 33 points on the Giants' defense in the final frame last week. Philadelphia's offense — when engaged — is significantly more lethal than Denver's, so this is scary.

New York is also dealing with some injuries in its secondary, as neither Jevon Holland nor Paulson Adebo practiced on Wednesday due to maladies they suffered in the Broncos loss. On top of that, edge rusher Brian Burns was sidelined with a foot injury, but he has been nursing that issue for quite some time now and will probably be good to go this Sunday.

Given that Philly boasts one of the league's most dynamic wide receiver tandems in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith (both of whom had breakout games against the Vikings, by the way), the fact that the Giants could be down two key defensive backs could be crippling.

You also kind of get the feeling that Saquon Barkley, who has yet to rush for 100 yards in any one individual contest this season, is due for a big performance, and the Eagles might make it a point to try and get him going this weekend.

The honeymoon period could be over for Jaxson Dart and the G-Men now. They nailed down a couple of impressive wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia and almost beat Denver, but the Broncos loss really stung, and now, the Giants have to deal with the reality of an angry Eagles squad out for blood.

If New York can somehow win this game, maybe we should already start building Dart's statue outside MetLife Stadium.
