What a win for the 4-1-1 Green Bay Packers. It didn't always feel great. It didn't always look great, either. The end result was great, though, and that's ultimately all that matters in the NFL. The Packers marched into State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona and came away with a 27-23 last-minute win over the Cardinals.
This was a game that easily could have gone either way. The Packers went into halftime down, 13-6, they trailed 20-13 heading into the fourth quarter. Arizona even had a chance to win the game with a go-ahead drive with under a minute to go before the Packers slammed the door shut.
It would have been a terrible loss to a team that has now lost five in a row, but it ended up being a thrilling win for the Packers in which multiple players stepped up.
These four players in particular, though, were the players of the game for the Pack.
Lucas Havrisik has played himself into a full-time NFL kicker job in the last two games. Whether he remains in Green Bay over the injured Brandon McManus is now a huge question, because Havrisik has been clutch for the Packers.
Against the Cardinals, he went 2-for-2 on field goals and made all of his extra point. Let's not bury the lead, though. His field goal at the end of the second quarter not only got the Packers some much-needed momentum, but he's now in the Packers' record books.
From preparing to be a substitute teacher to holding a record for one of the most storied franchises in sports, it's been a great two weeks for Havrisik.
If Jordan Love ends up in the NFL MVP conversation, and he should certainly be a contender at the moment, this will be a game that he can put on his resume.
Love completed 19-of-29 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns. He had a quarterback rating of 93.9 and he made some huge throws. None were bigger than this fourth-down toss to Tucker Kraft (who also deserves a shoutout for his five catches for 58 yards and a touchdown) late in the fourth quarter that kept the Packers' game-winning drive alive.
Love has now thrown for 1,438 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season compared to just two interceptions. Oh, and he also rushed four times for 22 yards (5.5 yards per carry) in this one.
He was in control of the offense at all times. It was a great game from the Packers' franchise quarterback.
Star running back Josh Jacobs was a gametime decision heading into this one as he dealt with injury and an illness. In fact, he was working out just hours before the game to determine if he'd be able to go or not.
This is the second-straight weekend of football in which he's been far less than 100-percent, but it's also the second game in a row in which he's put the Packers' offense on his back.
Jacobs rushed 13 times for 55 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 1:50 to go in the game.
The Packers traded away two first-round picks and a franchise mainstay in Kenny Clark for the chance to pay Micah Parsons $188 million over the next four years.
Parsons is the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, and he proved why on Sunday afternoon against the Cardinals.
Parsons was a one-man wrecking crew in this game. He was everywhere for this defense at all times. The Green Bay Packers' star pass-rusher finished the game with three sacks, five tackles, four tackles for loss and five quarterback pressures.
He was absolutely shot out of a cannon.
Arizona quarterback Jacoby Brissett is going to have nightmares of No. 1 in green and gold for the next few nights, at least.
