Could the Green Bay Packers actually add another wide receiver?

Heading into the season, the Green Bay Packers' wide receiver room was absolutely loaded, particularly after adding both Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in the NFL Draft. But with Christian Watson still recovering from a torn ACL and Jayden Reed breaking his collarbone in Week 2, the depth is now a bit questionable.

That hasn't stopped quarterback Jordan Love from throwing for 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns in four games, but there is no question that Love could use a No. 1 receiver.

Josh Weil of Pro Football Network has pitched a rather wild trade idea for the Packers, proposing that they send receiver Malik Heath and a sixth-round draft pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for Calvin Ridley and a 2027 seventh-rounder.

"The Green Bay Packers are built to be very good for now and for the foreseeable future. Still, with Jayden Reed’s injury and Matthew Golden looking like he needs a little more time to develop at the highest level, getting someone like Calvin Ridley would be worthwhile in this offense, given that the acquisition cost should be pretty reasonable," Weil wrote.

But would the cost really be that reasonable?

Heath has managed just 27 catches since entering the NFL in 2023 and is completely buried on the Packers' depth chart for a reason, and getting a sixth-round pick in return (while also giving up a seventh-rounder) won't move the needle much at all for the Titans.

It's not like Tennessee has to rush to trade Ridley, either, as the 30-year-old is under contract through 2027. Perhaps the Titans would like to get out from under the deal, but you have to think they would want more than just Heath and a Day 3 pick, especially considering they would be removing Cam Ward's top weapon.

Ridley has logged 15 grabs for 272 yards through five games this season. During his debut campaign in Music City last year, he hauled in 64 receptions for 1,017 yards and four scores. He has posted three 1,000-yard seasons since entering the NFL in 2018.

Acquiring Ridley would certainly comprise a massive addition for the Packers and would give their offense a terrific downfield threat. It just seems unlikely they would be able to nab the the University of Alabama product for such a cheap price.
