The Green Bay Packers have to feel very good about the potential that they have on offense. Jordan Love is easily a Top 10 NFL quarterback when he's healthy. Josh Jacobs is an All-Pro running back. Matt LaFleur is (usually) a great play-caller and the wide receiver room has some tremendous potential in players like Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, Dontayvion Wicks and a returning Christian Watson.
You may notice one wideout has been left out of the aforementioned group, and that's Romeo Doubs. The fourth-year player out of Nevada is no longer a player with potential. He would have fit into that group over his first three seasons as a former fourth-round pick, but he's grown into his own this season and has become a true top target for Love and the Packers.
Look no further than his performance against the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks ago. The disappointment of the 40-40 tie with Dallas overshadowed a virtuoso performance from Doubs.
He caught 6-of-8 targets for just 58 yards, but he converted three of those touches into touchdown receptions. He was money in the red zone, and he's clearly become Love's most trusted target.
"He shows up every day ready to work, handles his business and then you see the results on the field," Love recently said of Doubs, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. "I think he's got some of the best hands I've ever seen, and I think some of that stuff showed up last time in Dallas of just, the ball's coming his way, he's making plays every time."
The Packers infamously had a drops problem in 2025, so for Love to be praising Doubs and saying that he has "some of the best hands" he's ever seen is a huge deal for this team.
Green Bay has needed consistency out of the wideout position in the worst way ever since Davante Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, and though Doubs may never be the superstar that Adams was in green and gold, he's absolutely become a reliable target when it matters.
Speaking of, the moment from last season when he missed two days of meetings and practices -- supposedly because he was unhappy with the amount of touches he was getting and was getting -- and was suspended seems to be firmly in the past.
"In four years, Rome has done everything the right way," LaFleur said. "I know that there was a little blip on the screen, but I think that was just a one-off. And over time, he's just, he does everything the right way in regards to how he prepares, how he supports his teammates, so it's really cool to see a guy have success like that
"I would expect that to continue because he approaches the game the right way. He comes to work every day with the right mentality, he puts the work in, he does extra work, he does all the little things required to help you become the best version of you, and it's really cool to see."
The next move between the Packers and Doubs seems to be a contract extension, and there have been reports suggesting that Green Bay's brass is looking at that as an option. Demovsky mentioned Rashod Bateman's three-year, $36.75 million extension with the Baltimore Ravens or Khalil Shakir's four-year, $53 million extension with the Buffalo Bills as potential comps.
We'll have to wait and see how that plays out, but Doubs has clearly earned his "alpa" spot in Green Bay's crowded wide receiver room.
