Panthers Win Second Straight Home Game in dramatic fashion.

While both passing attacks were humming in Uptown Charlotte on Sunday, the deciding factor in the Panthers' 30-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys proved to be the ground game.

For the second consecutive game, Rico Dowdle exceeded 175 yards rushing — totaling 183 yards on Sunday — in the place of injured starter Chuba Hubbard. Dowdle also caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.

The Panthers' run defense was also stellar for the second straight week. After limiting the Dolphins to 19 rushing yards, Dallas mustered just 31 yards on the ground on Sunday.

Tied at 27, the Panthers began their game-winning drive with 6:07 remaining in the fourth quarter. Carolina then marched 71 yards — on 15 plays — to set up a chip-shot game-winning field goal by rookie kicker Ryan Fitzgerald.

The key play of the drive was a fourth-down conversion at the Dallas 40. Bryce Young fired a strike to a slanting Hunter Renfrow, who converted for his lone reception of the day.

The Panthers now sit at 3-3 and now look ahead to a road trip at the Jets. That New York team returns from London as the NFL's only winless team (0-6).

The first half was — to steal a frequent saying from Dave Canales — was all about the ball. Or at least the difference between the teams was.

The Cowboys' cashed in the game's lone turnover, which was a ricocheted ball off of Tetairoa McMillan's hands that resulted in an interception, for a go-ahead score. Near the goal-line, Dak Prescott found Hunter Luepke wide open in the end-zone flat on a play-action pass.

On the ensuing drive, McMillan would atone for his mistake by getting behind the Dallas secondary and grabbing his first career NFL touchdown reception. He would later score again in the second half.

The Panthers nearly had another costly mistake towards the end of the first half. Xavier Legette caught a short, second-down pass and then attempted an ill-advised lateral towards Dowdle that ended up being a fumble. Fortunately, Carolina was able to fall on top of the ball and Fitzgerald still salvaged a 55-yard field goal.

The Cowboys took a 17-13 lead into halftime, but that lead was short lived. It took just four plays for Carolina to take the lead right back. First, it was Jimmy Horn for a 34 yards and then Dowdle hauled in a 36-yard touchdown catch.
