The Carolina Panthers receiving corps could be in big trouble.

The Carolina Panthers entered the 2025 NFL campaign with plenty of hope offensively thanks much in part to the additions they made during the offseason.

Bryce Young had a very impressive run during the second half of last year, so the Panthers made sure to double down by signing running back Rico Dowdle in free agency as well as selecting wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan with the eighth overall pick of the NFL Draft.

Dowdle joined a backfield that already included Chuba Hubbard, making for quite a dynamic duo. Meanwhile, McMillan was linking up with a wide receiver room that featured impressive youngsters Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker as well as veteran Adam Thielen.

Well, Carolina traded Thielen shortly before the regular season, Coker has begun the year on injured reserve and Legette put forth two awful games before succumbing to a hamstring injury.

Then, there's McMillan, who has been absolutely brilliant through the first three weeks of his professional career but is now nursing a calf issue that could potentially sideline him for the Panthers' Week 4 matchup with the New England Patriots this Sunday.

McMillan, who didn't practice on Wednesday, seemed confident he would be able to play against the Patriots, but head coach Dave Canales did not seem as positive.

"We're just checking it out day by day," Canales told reporters. "And then, we'll just keep evaluating him tomorrow, and on with the week."

So basically, there appears to be a chance that McMillan could miss Sunday's action, which would leave Young with Hunter Renfrow and not a whole lot else at his disposal. Certainly not what Carolina anticipated heading into the season.

The Panthers have gotten off to a 1-2 start on the year, most recently routing the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 30-0 last weekend. It certainly wasn't because of the offense, though, as Carolina managed just 224 total yards.

Young has looked mostly unimpressive in the early stages of 2025, which is definitely disappointing considering how good he looked down the stretch last season. Hopefully, he can right the ship.
