The Carolina Panthers beat the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, but not without another tumultuous performance from Bryce Young.

The Carolina Panthers rallied for a 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon, fighting back from a 17-0 deficit that was largely caused by a couple of early Bryce Young miscues.

Young fumbled on the first possession of the game and then threw an interception on the second, which once again had many wondering if the Panthers would bench the former No. 1 overall pick.

Head coach Dave Canales was asked after the game if he considered benching Young, and while he didn't say yes, he didn't exactly say no, either.

"We just keep playing football. Ask him to execute and keep taking our chances," Canales said. "Fortunately for us, we were able to stay balanced with our attack and the run game got going—which allowed us to have a different kind of attack and settle back in and then he made his throws when we needed it."

Of course, perhaps the better question is, if Carolina did decide to bench Young, where would it turn? Andy Dalton? It really doesn't make much sense.

The Panthers aren't contending for a Super Bowl this year. Surely, Canales knows that, and so does the front office. This is about building toward the future, and benching Young in favor of a 37-year-old Dalton does nothing to solve that problem. If anything, it further complicates it.

Carolina might as well just stick with Young to see if he really can be the guy for the club moving forward, even if it's looking more and more like the University of Alabama product is not the long-term answer under center.

Young ended up going 19-for-30 with 198 yards, a couple of touchdowns and a pick in the victory. Yes, he led the Panthers to a nice come-from-behind win, but keep in mind that it came against a terrible Dolphins team that is now without its best player in Tyreek Hill.

Young is now in his third season. We shouldn't continue seeing these inconsistencies from him. By now, he should be starting to settle in, particularly considering how well he played down the stretch last year.

Carolina is now 2-3 on the campaign and will host the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday.
