Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young may not have many people left in his corner.

Remember late last year when Bryce Young led the Carolina Panthers to a couple of impressive wins and played incredibly well down the stretch? It looked like a turning point for the former No. 1 overall pick, and many expected Young to carry that over into 2025.

Needless to say, that has not happened. At all.

Young has thrown for 753 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 60.4 percent of his passes and posting a 77.1 passer rating through four games thus far this season. He has looked completely lost much of the time, and some have even wondered if head coach Dave Canales could bench him in favor of Andy Dalton.

One NFL executive called Young's performance thus far in 2025 "awful," and a scout claimed that the 24-year-old is not "the guy" for the Panthers moving forward, via Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

    That's a pretty fast-growing club.

Now in his third NFL season, Young has not displayed the type of progression that many had hoped. He had a rough rookie campaign in 2023, totaling 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 picks. He was then benched early on in Year 2 before ultimately regaining his job and looking much improved during the second half, but maybe it was just a mirage?

Carolina heavily invested into the team as a whole during the offseason, making some key additions defensively and also adding some pieces for Young on the offensive side of the ball. It clearly hasn't worked, as the Panthers are only 1-3 and were just routed by the New England Patriots, a team that won four games last season.

Don't get it twisted: Carolina has deeper problems than Young, but there is no doubt that the University of Alabama product is easily one of the team's most glaring issues. It won't matter how much the rest of the club improves if Young isn't franchise quarterback material.

Young has reached an absolutely critical juncture of his professional career. If he doesn't right the ship promptly, it may be time for the Panthers to admit they made a mistake and start considering other options next spring.
