The Baltimore Ravens dropped an important game on Sunday, as the team fell to 6-7 after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers. To make matters worse, running back Keaton Mitchell suffered a knee injury, but he has since received a promising update on the injury.
Mitchell rifled off a huge 55-yard run in the third quarter, but he walked gingerly off the field following the play. It was revealed that he suffered the knee injury then.
After the loss, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh revealed that Mitchell got some good news and his status was "day-to-day."
Now, Mitchell has received more good news.
Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the MRI on Mitchell's knee has come back clean.
"Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell's MRI on his knee came back clean, per source. He got banged up Sunday but the situation is considered minor moving forward," Fowler wrote on X.
This lines up with Harbaugh's update in that Mitchell should be good in the coming days. Though he may miss some practice this week, it is believed he will be able to play in the Cincinnati Bengals matchup.
Establishing the run game early and often can lead to getting the Ravens out of their slow starts. Lamar Jackson looked to be very mobile in the Steelers' loss, as he secured 43 yards on the ground and one touchdown.
Despite putting up 217 yards and a touchdown on the ground, the Ravens could not keep pace with the Steelers through four quarters.
Baltimore stalled on early drives and were forced to play catch-up towards the end of the game. There were some questionable calls in the game, such as the Isaiah likely touchdown that was overturned, but the Ravens should not have been in the position they were in to begin with.
With Mitchell potentially being fine enough to take the field on Sunday, the Ravens need to set the pace against the Bengals.
The Ravens got out to an early touchdown against the Bengals on Thanksgiving, but turnovers stalled their momentum on several occasions. The lack of big plays against the Steelers also led to their second consecutive loss.
With a 6-7 record, the Ravens cannot afford to lose many more games. They need to bounce back against the Bengals on Sunday to potentially reclaim first place in the AFC North.
