Saints' run-heavy shift and a fantasy-friendly matchup against the Bears ignite hope for Alvin Kamara's Week 7 explosion.

The New Orleans Saints have found greater success in recent weeks by adopting a run-first approach. In Weeks 1-3, the Saints threw the ball 60.5% of the time, averaged 4.4 yards per play, and had a turnover differential of zero. In Weeks 4-6, they threw the ball 49.7% of the time, averaged 5.2 yards per play, and had a plus-five turnover differential.

The Chicago Bears have been a fantasy-friendly matchup for running backs in 2025, allowing the sixth-most points to the position. In Week 4, they allowed Raiders’ running back Ashton Jeanty to gain 138 rushing yards and three total touchdowns.

The weather report for the game indicates lingering showers and wind gusts up to 30 mph. Both teams will likely rely heavily on the run game and be wary of taking shots downfield.

Kamara has had a poor start to the season, and no one will tell you that more emphatically than those who roster him in fantasy football. Through six games, he has totaled 436 scrimmage yards and scored just once. He has yet to score more than 16 points in a game; he is the RB24 in PPR leagues.

However, the opportunities are there for Kamara. He has logged double-digit rushing attempts in five of six games and recorded 4+ receptions in four of six games.

All of this adds up to a HUGE week for Alvin Kamara. The Saints are running the ball frequently, the Bears have struggled against running backs, the weather report indicates poor weather, and Kamara has had the opportunity without the results.

Spencer Rattler will be hesitant to push the ball downfield due to the strong winds expected throughout. This means a lot of short passes. Here is the average depth of target (aDOT) for New Orleans’ top five receivers in 2025:

    • Chris Olave - 9.4 yards
    • Rashid Shaheed - 10.8 yards
    • Juwan Johnson - 6.3 yards
    • Alvin Kamara - 1.3 yards
    • Brandin Cooks - 10.9 yards

On a day in which the city of Chicago lives up to its nickname, vertical passing concepts will be few. Rashid Shaheed and Brandin Cooks will be non-factors in their typical roles in the offense. Chris Olave may receive a solid target share, but his yardage total will be minimal. Juwan Johnson has continued to see his target rate and snap percentage dwindle.

Alvin Kamara will be Spencer Rattler’s closest ally in this Week 7 contest. He will be a safety valve in the passing game, giving his second-year QB an easy passing option in the inclement weather. Kamara is two weeks removed from an ankle injury he sustained against the Giants. He played 63% of the offensive snaps last week and is fully expected to play this week.

Not only is 20 touches well within the realm of possibility, but I expect it. Alvin Kamara has accumulated nearly 600 receptions and 5,000 receiving yards over eight and a half seasons. He will have plenty of opportunity and provide great value in fantasy football, especially in PPR leagues.
