Saints safety Justin Reid has been named the NFLPA Community MVP for Week 6, making this the second time in his career he’s won the award.
Per CSC, Reid has earned the recognition for his “Fully Charged” initiative, a technology workshop held at the New Orleans Public Library designed to bridge the digital divide for underrepresented youth. As part of the award, the NFLPA will donate $10,000 to his JReid Indeed Foundation.
Reid already had earned the NFLPA Community MVP once before (Week 1, 2021) for relief efforts following Hurricane Ida. His repeated recognition underscores how seriously he takes service off the field. Not just as a player, but as a civic leader.

This recognition is more than a feel-good story. It reinforces what the Saints often talk about: identity, culture, leadership.
Justin Reid’s consistent involvement off the field gives the organization a high-character figure to represent its values in service, leadership, and connection to the city. In a challenging season, having a leader like Reid gives the locker room and New Orleans something to rally around beyond wins and losses, and it gives younger players a role model in consistency and character.

For Reid himself, this is another notch in a legacy that goes beyond stats.
In the locker room he’s trusted, on the field he’s a communicator and veteran presence, and now in the wider community, he’s building bridges and opportunities for others.
For a franchise looking to define itself through more than wins and losses, Reid’s off-field impact carries real weight.
As the Saints prepare to travel to Chicago, Reid’s leadership will be vital both on and off the field.
The matchup against the Bears, led by rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, will test the communication and discipline of New Orleans’ secondary.Reid’s experience and poise will be central to managing that challenge, especially with younger defenders looking to him for stability.
This week also highlights the broader picture: how character drives performance.
Reid’s consistency in giving back mirrors the steady approach the Saints are trying to establish as a team: stay composed, stay united, and represent the city with pride.
Whether it’s mentoring teammates, anchoring the defense, or mentoring youth through his foundation, Reid has become the standard for what it means to wear the Saints uniform.
As kickoff approaches, the Saints’ focus will be on containing Chicago’s offense and building momentum for the second half of the season.

Reid’s latest recognition serves as a reminder that success in New Orleans isn’t measured solely by wins and losses, but also defined by the people who lift the community around them.
