The veteran defensive back was able to overcome his hamstring injury and play on Sunday. Nothing was questionable about his performance.
Ramsey did a little bit of everything to help the Steelers run their winning streak to three games with a 23-9 victory at Acrisure Stadium. At 4-1, the Steelers hold a 2 ½-game lead in the AFC Central.
Ramsey had two sacks and six tackles as the Steelers held the Browns and rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel without a touchdown.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was cognizant not to overuse Ramsey. However, the three-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection still made an impact despite limited snaps.
"We certainly wanted to make sure he could impact the game," Tomlin said. "I cannot say enough about Jalen Ramsey. This guy plays outside corner. He plays nickel. He plays free safety. He is exactly what we hoped he would be, and certainly he was significant today."
The Steelers acquired Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith from the Miami Dolphins in a trade for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick during the offseason.
The deal involved risk as Ramsey turns on Oct. 31. However, he has proven to be a big boost to the Steelers' defense.
"Oh, that guy is a dog," Steelers outside linebacker Nick Herbig said. "I grew up watching him when he was at Florida State. He's been doing it since I've been watching football. Just seeing that in person, seeing how he goes about his business day in and day out on and off the field, that guy is a true professional, true vet. He's a leader, inspiration to a lot of guys, and he's great for us."
Other than winning, nothing made Ramsey's day more than the two sacks, only one less than he had combined in his 10-year career. Ramsey said he would tell his grandchildren about the day he had two sacks in a game featuring likely Hall of Fame edge rushers T.J. Watt of the Steelers and Myles Garrett of the Browns.
"Jalen is a helluva asset," Watt said with a smile.
