D.K. Metcalf had his best game with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, Ireland. The former Seattle Seahawks star had five catches for 126 yards.
Metcalf caught an 80-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, helping the Steelers win by a final score of 24-21. Mike Tomlin's group is now 3-1 on the season.
In his latest notebook for ESPN, NFL insider Dan Graziano wrote about Pittsburgh's hot start and said the team will continue to move Metcalf "around the formation to maximize his playmaking ability."
Metcalf has 15 catches for 261 yards and three touchdowns on the season. He already has great chemistry with Rodgers.
The Steelers signed Metcalf to a four-year, $132 million extension after acquiring him from the Seahawks. Metcalf finished his Seattle career with 438 receptions for 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns.
An anonymous NFL defensive assistant recently had a lot of things to say about Metcalf during a conversation with Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports. D.K. is a once-in-a-generation type player because of his build.
“He’s a specimen, he’s a freak of an athlete, freak of a physique,” one NFC defensive assistant told Yahoo Sports. “He’s built like an outside linebacker that plays outside receiver and can move inside [as], for lack of a better term, a big dude just running at you.
“There’s nobody like him in the league, when you think about it.”
Metcalf is listed at 6-4, 229 pounds. He's one of the fastest players in the NFL. The 27-year-old ran a 4.33 40-yard dash at the scouting combine in 2019.
“He’s a Pro Bowl player who has to be used a certain way to be at his best,” one NFC talent evaluator told Yahoo Sports. “He’s tricky because he can’t run the full route tree like other high-level players.”
