The Pittsburgh Steelers signed future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers this offseason after starting Justin Fields and Russell Wilson last season.
The 41-year-old Rodgers has thrown for 586 yards on the season. He has seven passing touchdowns and three interceptions for the Steelers, who are 2-1.
During his Tuesday press conference with Steelers reporters, head coach Mike Tomlin spoke about what he's seen from Rodgers through three weeks.
"How he interacts with teammates, how he loves the preparation process, all those things have been double thumbs up," Tomlin said. "So it’s reasonable to expect the in-stadium performance to mirror that.
"He may be disappointed with how he played last week, but we had an opportunity this week to do something about it. Just watching him day to day, there is not a high level of concern in terms of outcome being what we and he desire."
The Steelers beat the New England Patriots (1-2) in Week 3 on the road at Gillette Stadium. Rodgers went 16 of 23 for 139 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
One of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, Rodgers had a QBR (quarterback rating) of 43.1 and a passer rating (RTG) of 96.1 against the Patriots. He threw the game-winning touchdown pass to wideout Calvin Austin III.
"We had to have a drive there," Rodgers said. "Guys made some plays. I thought the important play was the screen there, Kenny (Gainwell) cutting it back inside to give us a third and manageable.
"Then we actually just talked about that in the huddle before the drive, about just a subtle signal on what I might want if I gave that when Cal was on the other side. That was nice he was on the same page. I didn't throw the best ball, but Cal's so dang fast, he made a great play.
"That's what we're supposed to do. We've got to make those plays so we're not in those positions. Up 14-0 we're feeling pretty good about ourselves. We haven't been ahead by two scores yet, two drives, two touchdowns, started fast for the third straight week. Then I just didn't play great. We kind of lost our rhythm, too many penalties and negative yardage plays, and didn't make them pay when we had opportunities."
Rodgers and Co. face the Minnesota Vikings (2-1) in Ireland in Week 4. Let's see how Rodgers plays against his former NFC North rival.
