Ben Skowronek will always be the answer to a trivia question as the first Pittsburgh Steelers player to catch a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers.

The backup wide receiver hauled in a 22-yard scoring pass from the future Hall of Famer in the first quarter of the Steelers' 34-32 victory over the New York Jets in Week 1. Rodgers joined the Steelers in the offseason, signing a one-year contract as a free agent.

Yet that remains Skowronek's only reception of the season as the Steelers take a 3-1 record into next Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns at Acrisure Stadium. Furthermore, Skowronek has had only one more target, which came last week when the Steelers beat the Minnesota Vikings 24-21 in Dublin.

That leaves Skowronek eighth on the team in catches. In his five-year career, including his first three with the Los Angeles Rams from 2021-23, the 28-year-old has just 64 receptions for 666 yards and two touchdowns,

However, Skowronek understands his role. DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin get most of the targets among Steelers wide receivers, leaving Skowronek to help as a blocker and special teams player, where he has been in on six tackles this season.

It was also that way during Skowronek's first season with the Steelers last year, when he had five receptions for 69 yards. He was cut by the Houston Texans, who had acquired him from the Rams in the offseason, at the end of the training camp, and the Steelers signed him.

"As a competitor, you obviously want the ball in your hands," Skowronek said. "But I don't think I'm like any other receiver in the league. I truly don't care how many catches I have. I'll still be happy if we win.

"I want to be in the game on offense because I know what I can bring, but I feel there are a lot more ways to affect the game than just catching balls. If everyone had the same role, what type of team would we have? So, I want to be that enforcer. I want to be the guy who can get the run game going."
