It's redemption week for the Minnesota Vikings offense as they face a potentially morale boosting game opportunity. At least the Vikings will hope for redemption.
Minnesota faces the hated Green Bay Packers. And although it doesn't carry the heated nature of college rivalries, it might be the closest rivalry to that level of animus on the schedule.
The Packers' defense has proven vulnerable to the explosive plays this season. Earlier in the year, they allowed 40 points in an overtime tie with the Dallas Cowboys. That said, they've been lights out on defense of late.
The Packers' offense has struggled in recent weeks, though. It could provide more opportunities if the Vikings defense can turn them over and force the Green Bay defense to stay on the field.
In the last two games, Green Bay saw a 16-13 defeat to the Carolina Panthers and a 10-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
For Minnesota, the challenge is improving from a lackluster offensive day of its own. The team put up just 150 passing yards from quarterback J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy completed just 50% of his 32 pass attempts with two turnovers.
The young signal caller had a strong fourth quarter completing six of eight pass attempts for 76 yards and a touchdown score. It had some questioning why McCarthy was unable to perform at that high level the rest of the game. Now he gets the chance to put it all together against the Packers.

A win does not resolve all the Vikings' issues. The team still has an issue with game-to-game consistency, something it will have to prove it can execute long after the Packers' game. Albeit a win does put the Vikings back in control of their own destiny to a degree.
Currently the team sits at 4-6 but with strong wins over the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears despite losing the second matchup with the Bears last Sunday. The game against the Packers presents another landmark opportunity to make a statement about what type of team the Vikings are capable of becoming in the 2025 season.
Could the Vikings make a postseason appearance this season? It's still within the realm of possibility. What's certain is, their chances decrease significantly should they lose again.
If there's one thing that's true of Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy, it's that he performs best in high leverage situations. He will have another one against Green Bay.
