Two potential starters have a chance to return for Minnesota on Sunday

Sunday's matchup with the Green Bay Packers is as big as it gets for a Week 12 matchup for the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers are coming off a victory over the New York Giants, but could be without star running back Josh Jacobs, while the Vikings fell to the Bears on Sunday and were without two starters. Could the Vikings get both players back on Sunday?

First, let's start with starting center Ryan Kelly. Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com shared an encouraging update on Wednesday about Kelly. The center was a full participant today and presumably will be throughout the week, which, if it holds, puts Kelly on track to play against Green Bay. Today's participation is an estimated participation since the Vikings are holding a walkthrough and not a full practice, but it is a very good sign to start the week.

Kevin Seifert (@SeifertESPN) on X Kevin Seifert (@SeifertESPN) on X Vikings C Ryan Kelly will be a full participant today and presumably throughout the week of practice. He suffered two concussions earlier this season but is "itching to get back out there," per Kevin O'Connell. Possible that could happen Sunday in Green Bay.

Kelly has only appeared in three games this season and will provide an instant boost to the Vikings' offensive line, which will have to contend with the formidable Packers' defensive line. In three games, Kelly has a clean pass blocking sheet through 69 pass blocking snaps. The Vikings' running game stands to get a boost as well with Kelly's 70.2 run blocking grade, according to PFF. Blake Brandel has filled in for Kelly admirably, but the return of Kelly is an instant upgrade.

EDGE rusher Jonathan Greenard missed Sunday's contest with the Bears, and his impact was missed as the Vikings struggled to get Caleb Williams to the ground consistently. The team leader in pressures started the week working off to the side, which will likely go in the books as a DNP.

Kevin Seifert (@SeifertESPN) on X Kevin Seifert (@SeifertESPN) on X Jonathan Greenard will work off to the side today, meaning he technically won't participate in the Vikings' outdoor walk through today.

There is still time for Greenard to practice during the week and make the Sunday game, but Seifert shared his estimated participation, which can be viewed as a negative to start the week as a DNP. Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores deploys Greenard as a chess piece, using him in multiple spots across the defensive line.  For the most part, Greenard plays on the right side of the defense, with over 300 of his snaps coming as either a RE, REO, or ROLB.

The Packers offensive line has been shaky on the left side of their offensive line with left tackle Rasheed Walker (39th out of 76 NFL tackles in pass blocking grade) and former San Francisco 49er left guard Aaron Banks, who the Packers signed to a very lucrative contract, struggling on the season. Banks ranks as the 34th guard out of 80 NFL guards as a pass blocker.
