Pastore asked for patience with Mastantuono at Real Madrid. He says the 18-year-old is very talented but needs time to adapt and support from the club.
Javier Pastore was one of the guests at the legends match that FIFA organized for the congress taking place today in Vancouver. The former Paris Saint-Germain player is, curiously, the agent of Enzo Fernandez, the footballer who flirted so much with Real Madrid that he was sanctioned by his club, Chelsea.
The former footballer spoke about the player's situation and, in passing, asked for time for Mastantuono, who has been questioned in his first season at Real Madrid.
Pastore, who also made the jump to European football from Argentina at a young age, landed in Paris at age 22, said, "He is a kid who is just 18. I wish I had arrived at Madrid at that age. He is a young player with a lot of talent, and you have to give him time.
He has to adapt, and the team also has to help so that he can play his football. He is a player who does not make the difference alone like Vinicius or Mbappe, but rather needs to combine with others to create play and get into the box. I believe that with time, we will all discover the player he is."
Pastore also addressed the situation of Fernandez, and it is clear that his future at Chelsea is up in the air, although he wanted to make it clear that his trips to Madrid — he has been seen alongside Bellingham watching tennis in Madrid — are nothing more than his affinity for the capital and his friends who live in Spain.
"There has been a lot of talk, but nothing is happening. He is focused on finishing the season in the best possible way at Chelsea. He indeed made statements that were not appropriate, but he did not say anything strange either; he just spoke about Madrid, which he likes a lot, because I am there and he has friends, but that is it."
"Argentina defends the title; they are coming in well, the players arrive with confidence, and we are the favorites because of who we are, but there is a month to go, and it is clear that there are other very powerful national teams.
It is a shame that there was no Finalissima, it was an opportunity to face off between two favorites, a shame, against a Spain with very young and very talented players," Pastore said.
Finally, Pastore added to the praise for the spectacle of PSG vs. Bayern and hopes to see his former team in a second consecutive final. "I was able to watch the last 25 minutes, and then I saw it again. It is the football we like to see, with two teams that think about attacking, and let's hope that in the second leg PSG reaches another final."
