Endrick's father said in an interview that Real Madrid took away his son's 'amusement park,' meaning the chance to enjoy football, and that he found his resurgence at Lyon.

Douglas Sousa, in statements to ESPN Brazil's SportsCenter, said his son Endrick sees himself playing in the World Cup this summer. 'The expectations are high,' says the father of the footballer, who will return next season to Real Madrid after leaving his mark at Lyon.

'Endrick believes that if he performs well in the upcoming matches, he could go to the World Cup,' commented Douglas Sousa, who also referred to Real Madrid when asked.

'Endrick has a phrase that says his amusement park is the football pitch. And at Real Madrid, somehow, they took that amusement park away from him. What he wants is to play football,' said the Brazilian's father on ESPN Brazil.

'Now he has found that happiness. My daughter-in-law was fundamental for Endrick to go to Lyon, and he is happy. We are all happy, that is the most important thing,' assured Douglas Sousa. He didn't need to say it.

His son is proving it in France and knocking loudly on Real Madrid's door to return next season and be much more than he was at the White House a few months ago.

The current situations of both teams can be somewhat contradictory, not because of their positions in the table but because of the ambitions each institution holds.

That is to say, Lyon sits third in Ligue 1, which would ensure they qualify for the Champions League next season, which is excellent, since this season they were participating in the Europa League, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 at the hands of Celta Vigo.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid sits second in La Liga, 11 points behind FC Barcelona with five matchdays remaining, which makes a comeback practically impossible.

What's more, on matchday 35, there will be the new edition of El Clásico, and there is a possibility that Madrid will visit Camp Nou with Barca already crowned champions.

Real Madrid had great chances to qualify for the Champions League semifinals, but ultimately fell painfully to Bayern; they also failed miserably in the Copa del Rey, so everything points to it being a new season without trophies in the cabinet for Europe's biggest winner.
