Luis Enrique prioritizes mental resilience over physical fatigue, revealing a recharged PSG ready to conquer challenges with renewed focus and tactical improvements.

Present at a press conference on the eve of PSG vs. Monaco, Luis Enrique was questioned about his choice to grant two days of rest to his players at the start of the week and explained that it was more about relieving heads than legs, estimating that his team was in very good physical shape at the moment.

There has been much talk since the start of the season about injuries and PSG's uncertain physical form after a historic yet exhausting 2024/25 season. Eliminated from the Coupe de France in the round of 64, PSG has had a slightly lighter schedule since mid-January, and Luis Enrique has taken advantage of it to give his players quite a bit of rest, for example.

Present at a press conference this Thursday, on the eve of PSG vs. Monaco, the Spanish coach was questioned about the management of his group with this question: do his players currently need more rest or rhythm before the return of the Champions League?

"You have to judge that, and it depends individually and collectively," the Asturian replied. "What I have seen and what I can appreciate in the team is that we are in very good physical shape. We have done incredible matches. When I saw certain statistics and what our level is without the ball, it's incredible, top, and I am happy. Normally, when there are problems, you always look (to talk) about the physical aspect, but the mental aspect is more important than the physical for me. And I am happy with what I can judge in the team."

Luis Enrique is also taking advantage of the lightening of his team's schedule to work differently on a daily basis, as he explained: "When you play every three days, it's difficult to prepare matches, because you don't have time. At the moment, especially this month (of March), it's important for us to be able to work on tactical aspects, offensive, defensive, on set pieces, and on throw-ins. There are many things we can improve, and we are working on them now because we have time to do so. We are happy, it's different from what we have experienced in the past."

Returning to the mental aspect, very important, therefore, in his eyes, Luis Enrique does not feel any particular mental fatigue among his troops: "No, nothing of that. You look for problems all the time. Nothing. It's the same thing as when we won 5-0 against Marseille. The same thing. The same physical state, the same mental state. That's what I think. That's what I defend because I have seen training every day. I have seen all the matches. I have analyzed and evaluated all my team's matches. It's normality. But during the season, there are better moments, ups and downs, and you have to accept it with normality."
