During the summer transfer window Manchester United offloaded a number of players who were infamously known as the 'bomb squad' at United after a disappointing 2024-25 season which saw them finish 15th in the Premier league table.

First team players like Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony were all shown the door as Ruben Amorin planned on a major rebuild during the transfer window.

One other player who has seemingly fallen out of favour is midfielder Kobbie Mainoo who last featured in Manchester United's Carabao Cup defeat against Grimsby Town.

According to ESPN (Via TEAMtalk) the 20-year-old planned on a loan move to Napoli during the summer transfer window but United blocked the transfer as they were unwilling to let the youngster leave a move during the winter transfer window remains on the cards for Mainoo if he doesn't gets his chances with the Red Devils.

During the recent World Cup qualifiers, Mainoo was left out of the England squad by Thomas Tuchel which clearly leaves his selection in the 2026 World Cup squad in jeopardy if he remains to be an unused player in Amorin's United squad.

The United manager recently talked about the young midfielder's recent omission from the squad saying, "So he just needs to fight for the position with Bruno, as should be at Manchester United. He’s going to play with Bruno, but at the moment he’s fighting in training with Bruno for the position."

United released their 21-man squad for the league this season, and surprisingly for the fans, Mainoo was not named in the main squad but understandably was included in the list of the under-21 players as the premier league clubs are allowed to name include U21 players without listing them in the main squad.

As it stands the young Three Lions midfielder will most likely give his best to fight for his position in Amorin's squad but one cannot rule out a move out of Manchester in the winter if he doesn't get enough playing time at Manchester.
