During the course of the summer transfer window Manchester United were able to bring in their desired attacking options in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who are expected to be the solution for United's attacking woes.

But midfield is one position where the Red Devils weren't able to bring in any significant reinforcements in order to strengthen their squad.

Ruben Amorin and co. were said to be interested in a number of midfielders in the likes of Morten Hjulmand, Adam Wharton and Brighton star, Carlos Baleba but none of these approaches materialized into a successful transfer.

As a result the club will most likely make another move for a midfielder during the winter transfer window and according to former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown, United are 'looking at' Nottingham Forest youngster, Elliot Anderson in order to reinforce their midfield for years to come.

Anderson, who is only 22 years old, signed for Forest in 2024, ticks all the boxes as a midfielder and his ability with the ball has impressed a lot of other premier league sides.

Brown talked about the young Three Lions midfielder in an interview with the Football Insider saying, "Man United have been looking at Anderson," he also added, "He’s done a tremendous job at Nottingham Forest and then he’s come into the England side and turned in a man-of-the-match performance. United see him as exactly the type of midfielder they would like to bring in."

Anderson recently picked up the man of match award in England's 2-0 victory against Andorra after putting up a brilliant display during the World Cup qualifying match.

With growing interest from other premier league clubs, it won't be easy for United to bring in the 22-year-old, but with the potential that he possesses, Anderson might be just the long term investment which Man United are looking for.
