Casemiro stars as United secure a thrilling third consecutive victory, overcoming Brighton in a high-scoring encounter at Old Trafford.

Until a few days ago, Manchester United hadn't celebrated two consecutive wins since the start of the 'Amorim Era'. This afternoon, thanks to a goal and an assist from Casemiro, the 'Red Devils' completed a three-in-a-row by beating Brighton (3-2), who had managed three visits 'stealing points' at Old Trafford and were starting to settle in the top part of the table.

The game had barely been going a minute when Bruno Fernandes had the first chance with a shot from around the penalty spot that went wide... while Brighton threatened on the counter-attack on several occasions. In between, Diallo appealed for a penalty from De Cuyper.

Cunha, operating on the left side alongside Šeško and Mbeumo, was especially 'switched on'. First, he tested Verbruggen with a long-range shot and, in the 24th minute, he opened his Premier League account as a 'Red Devil' to make it 1-0. He received the ball from Casemiro, created space for himself on the edge of the box, and placed his shot inside the far post.

The high pressure was affecting Manchester United. In fact, that's how the second goal came just 10 minutes later. Shaw robbed Minteh and laid it off to Casemiro, who tried his luck from the edge of the area... and got his reward after a deflection off Ayari. After Cunha's goal, it's the first time two Brazilians have scored for United in the same match.

Šeško also wanted to leave his mark on the game and came close to scoring with a thunderbolt from inside the box that went just wide. Bruno, for his part, saw Verbruggen deny him his goal with a point-blank save right after halftime.

Lammens had to come up with a save to punch a cross behind for a corner that had become dangerous, giving some breathing room to a Manchester United side that gave themselves a cushion past the hour mark through Mbeumo, assisted by Šeško. It's the second game in a row the Cameroonian has gotten on the scoresheet.

Verbruggen, using the post to his advantage, prevented Mbeumo from making it four, and Welbeck, a product of Manchester United's academy, got a consolation goal with a free-kick in the 74th minute. Amorim wasn't feeling comfortable, Lammens pulled off several quality saves, and in stoppage time, Kostoulas rose to head home and reduce the deficit.

The stands fell completely silent. But, right before the final whistle, Mbeumo let them breathe by making it 4-2 on the scoreboard for a Manchester United that could celebrate its third consecutive Premier League win to settle, pending Liverpool's result, in a Champions League spot.
