With the 2025 regular season being near the end, the WPRA barrel racing standings are tight. But while the battle for the final spots continue, the story at the top is all about efficiency. No one exemplifies that more than 2024 World Champion Kassie Mowry.
Mowry and her horse “Force The Goodbye,” better known as Jarvis, has had a season for the history books. She has only been to 28 rodeos and has won a staggering $203,322.95 which is nearly $11,000 more than second-place Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, who has competed at more than double the rodeos. Mowry’s consistency and ability to win big when it counts have given her a commanding lead towards the gold buckle again this year.
Mowry wasted no time building her lead in 2025, stacking up some of the biggest wins of the year. She kicked things off with dominating at RODEOHOUSTON and followed it up with another major win at the San Angelo Rodeo. Her momentum never slowed, adding the Greeley Independence Stampede to her list of first-place finishes for the year. Also helping her cause was the second place finishes at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, the Calgary Stampede, and the Eugene, Oreg. Rodeo. These big feats cemented her place at the top of the standings early, where she’s remained all season.
While Mowry showcases efficiency, the rest of the standings tell a different story or maybe a different technique. With a rodeo count max of 100, each cowgirl can take a different approach to racking up enough money for a run at the finals. Carlee Oterto, for example, sitting at number 5 has went to 82 rodeos. McKenna Coronado, sitting on the bubble right now, has been to 88, the most out of anyone in the top 20. These are examples of the hard-traveling endurance it takes to get in and stay in the Top 15. Every run has mattered for these girls, and every mile on the road shows in their standings.
Veterans like Hailey Kinsel (53 rodeos, $172,841) and Lisa Lockhart (63 rodeos, $149,667) show a balance between selective scheduling and consistent winning. Both cowgirls are inside the Top 10 and well on their way to another NFR qualification. Rising names like Calgary Champion, Anita Ellis (43 rodeos, $145,882) have also made their mark with their own balance.
The race tightens significantly from 13th down. Tricia Aldridge, Julie Plourde, and McKenna Coronado hold the last three spots inside the Top 15, but there’s very little breathing room with other talented ladies and horses just outside.
As the season winds down, Kassie Mowry continues to prove why many consider her the best to ever do it. With only those 28 rodeos on her season, she has not only built the largest earnings lead in the WPRA but also shown a mastery of knowing where to go, when to go, and how to win when it counts. Her efficiency is unmatched leading the pack with less than a third of the rodeo count of some of her competitors.
It goes to show the different paths to the big show, one built on dominating at the biggest rodeos, while the other on grinding out every opportunity across the country all year long. Both roads can lead to the Thomas & Mack Arena, but they paint two very different pictures of what it takes to be a Top 15 barrel racer in the 2025 race to Vegas.
