Basketball star Caitlin Clark joins golf legends and emerging talent Kai Trump at Annika Sorenstam's LPGA event during her recovery.

Caitlin Clark is set to return to competition—this time, not on the basketball court, but alongside some of golf’s brightest stars.

The Indiana Fever guard will appear at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, an LPGA Tour event hosted by Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam from Nov. 10–16 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. Clark, who serves as a Gainbridge ambassador, will take part in the tournament’s pro-am festivities while continuing her recovery from multiple injuries that ended her 2025 WNBA season early.

She’ll share the stage with a new face in women’s golf: high school standout Kai Trump, who will make her LPGA Tour debut after receiving a sponsor’s exemption. Trump, a University of Miami commit and senior at the Benjamin School, will compete in the professional field as one of three amateur invitees.

For Clark, the appearance comes during a deliberate, months-long rehabilitation process. The All-Star guard played just 13 games in her second WNBA season before a series of injuries—a recurring groin strain and a left ankle sprain—sidelined her for the year. She averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists before being ruled out in August.

Clark has since returned to light on-court work, progressing through 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 drills in Indianapolis while focusing on rebuilding lower-body strength and flexibility. Fever officials have emphasized caution as she works toward full 5-on-5 clearance.

Her next major basketball milestone is expected in March 2026, when she plans to rejoin Team USA for the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico. Until then, Clark remains active in public appearances and ambassador events like Sorenstam’s LPGA showcase, helping maintain visibility for women’s sports during her rehab.

Trump’s participation will add another layer of intrigue to the week. The 17-year-old has built one of the largest followings among young female athletes, with more than six million combined social media followers across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X. She recently launched her own athletic apparel and lifestyle brand aimed at inspiring young women to compete in sports with confidence.

“My dream has been to compete with the best in the world on the LPGA Tour,” Trump said. “This event will be an incredible experience. I look forward to meeting and competing against so many of my heroes and mentors in golf.”

Justin Sheehan, director of golf and COO at Pelican Golf Club, said Trump’s inclusion fits the tournament’s mission of growing the game and broadening its reach.

“Kai Trump has a tremendous passion for the game and is expanding the sport to broader audiences,” Sheehan said. “We look forward to welcoming her and the entire tournament field to Pelican Golf Club in November.”

The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican serves as the LPGA Tour’s penultimate event of the 2025 season and will feature several of the world’s top players, as well as additional sponsor exemptions for collegiate standouts Anne-Sterre den Dunnen of Wake Forest and Lauryn Nguyen of Northwestern.

For both Caitlin Clark and Kai Trump, it represents more than an event—it’s a convergence of two rising icons from different sports, sharing one stage in Florida this November.
