The Investment Fraud Prevention Association advises investors to be extremely cautious of investment schemes involving digital assets or “tokens.”

Fraudsters continue to take advantage of the increasing popularity of digital assets to tempt individual investors into scams, often resulting in catastrophic losses. Cryptocurrencies, coins, and tokens, such as those offered in initial coin offerings (ICO), digital land, or other digital property, are examples of “digital assets”. Investors might be less suspicious of new or “cutting-edge” investment opportunities, or they may become captivated by the worry of missing out. If you’re thinking about investing in digital equity, make sure you understand how the investment works and weigh the risks. Look for red flags that indicate a scam.
