Safforn

Safforn Today we talk about a very special flower stigma called safforn. Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus commonly known as the "saffron crocus". The vivid crimson stigma and styles, called threads, are collected and dried for use mainly as a seasoning and colouring agent in food. Saffron has long been the world's costliest spice by weight.Although some doubts remain on its origin it is believed that saffron originated in Iran. Its have a lot of benefits  1)A powerful antioxidant. Saffron contains an impressive variety of plant compounds. ...2)May improve mood and treat depressive symptoms. ...3)May have cancer-fighting properties. ...4)May reduce PMS symptoms. ...5)May act as an aphrodisiac. ...6)May reduce appetite and aid weight loss. ...Easy to add to your diet. The period of pulling the saffron from the flowers is really tough .It takes approximately 75000 flower which need to b plucked by hand to make one pound of safforn. This is why the spice is so expensive.
