As the Cyclones are looking to rebound at home, Eddie George’s Falcons plan to make it difficult.
Iowa State will return home to Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 19, for a matchup against former NFL superstar turned head coach Eddie George and the Bowling Green Falcons.
The Cyclones will look to rebound after a tough 16–13 loss in the Cy‑Hawk rivalry game, a matchup where Iowa State mustered just 255 yards of total offense. Despite showing flashes of being able to create some momentum on the ground, Iowa State's ability to maintain drives was hampered by a lack of consistency through the air.
In their upcoming matchup against the Falcons, the Cyclones are expected to lean on their passing game, targeting Bowling Green's secondary to build momentum before facing No. 17 Utah in Big 12 play. This game is viewed by many as a preparatory or "tune-up" opportunity for the Cyclones.
Bowling Green faces a challenging situation as they head into their game at Jack Trice Stadium against the Cyclones, following an unfavorable start to their season with two losses. Determined to turn their fortunes around, the team enters this matchup with the intent and the talent to make things difficult for Iowa State.
Here are three Falcons to keep an eye on in Saturday’s game.
JoJo Johnson (CB, #2)
The redshirt senior cornerback with the Falcons may present a threat to the Cyclones' passing attack. Johnson brings a great deal of experience having played at Notre Dame, Iowa Western Community College, and Indiana before landing at Bowling Green in 2025. With Johnson standing at 6'0" and weighing 188 lbs, his size and physical presence mixed in with his experience could be a threat to the Cyclones' receivers.
Jeremiah Scoby (TE, #0)
Scoby had an impressive season opener, recording 10 receptions for 102 yards against Tarleton State. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 218 pounds, this sophomore tight end poses a challenging matchup for the Cyclones. His ability to be a “big slot” in specific line-ups could create difficulties for Cyclone linebackers by making them cover in open space, while his size in the slot allows him to potentially transform short catches into significant yards after catch (YAC) if covered by corners.
Kal-El Pascal (S, #0)
In 2025, the 6-foot, 190-pound junior played every game, achieving 80 tackles and notable defensive stats. In 2026, he received preseason All-MAC honors. Pascal demonstrated his ability by recording 13 tackles against Nebraska and is crucial in coverage against Iowa State's tight ends and slot receivers.
