Nottingham Forest could loan center-back David Carmo to Olympiacos for the 2026-27 season, according to reports. But there is a key condition that must be met for the move to happen.
Some big European clubs are already planning their squad assembly for next season, and the same goes for the biggest club in Greece. Jose Luis Mendilibar's team, in fact, will begin its preseason earlier than many, as they will participate in UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds in early August.
Considering that several defensive pieces, such as center-backs Lorenzo Pirola (linked to Serie A side Como), Giulian Biancone (linked to Ligue 1 side Lens), and Alexis Kalogeropoulos (linked to Serie A side Monza), could leave the team, Thrylos' sporting department has already set to work to reinforce this position.
One of the names on Olympiacos' wish list is David Carmo, who was already part of the team in two different stages. One of them was when the club was crowned UEFA Conference League champion in the 2023-24 season.
Well, as reported by the specialized site TransferFeed, Nottingham Forest could send Carmo, 26, on loan to Olympiacos for a third stint with the Greek giants.
That said, according to the Greek outlet Athletiko, there is a condition that must be met: coach Mendilibar needs guarantees that the player wants to wear the Red and White shirt. As journalist Dionysis Verveles explained, during Carmo's second stint at Olympiacos, the defender did not hide his desire to leave Greece.
"In Piraeus, they have a good opinion of the footballer, as does Jose Luis Mendilibar, since the two have worked well together," Verveles began explaining in the cited outlet.
He added, "But on the other hand, what they are telling the team is that a discussion with the player should first take place, in case something is to go forward. Because Carmo, in his last season, did not hide the fact that he wanted to leave Greece and not continue at Olympiacos."
The same report notes that Carmo should be favorably disposed toward returning to Piraeus, as he would have the opportunity to compete in the Champions League. However, they do not rule out a rejection from the player, whose future remains up in the air after his loan at Real Oviedo.
During the 2025-26 season, Carmo played 22 matches in LaLiga, scoring one goal. The Angolan's contract with Nottingham Forest extends until the summer of 2029. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is around $8.7 million.
