Florentino Perez has his ideal defender for Real Madrid in mind.

Real Madrid is planning its roster for the 2026/27 season, prioritizing the signings of at least one center-back and an organizing midfielder.

But problems keep arising, since, in addition to the sporting aspect, where injuries are not giving Alvaro Arbeloa's team a break, there are the setbacks the white team is encountering in the transfer window.

Because, especially regarding strengthening the defensive line, President Florentino Perez and his team keep receiving bad news, this time with defender Nico Schlotterbeck, whose contract extension with Borussia Dortmund is considered certain in Germany.

The club remains attentive to Ibrahima Konate, who ends his contract with Liverpool in June, but, in the meantime, the president is very excited about the ideal center back for the team: Eder Militao. The Brazilian is the white team’s signing for the same end-of-season.

Florentino is one of those who think Militao is a key piece for Madrid's present and future: “We are looking forward to seeing him at the Santiago Bernabeu,” the club executive is said to have said.

In fact, he is practically considered a luxury addition because he has been sidelined for so long due to injuries. Hence, despite the possible reinforcements the entity may make to strengthen the back line for the coming campaign, where names like Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba or Arsenal’s William Saliba have also been mentioned, the club’s idea is that Militao, recovered, will once again be the defensive pillar of the team, which faces two months (April and May) that will be completely decisive for the group’s future, as it fights for the league title with Barcelona and aims to eliminate Bayern Munich in the next knockout round of the Champions League.

Militao suffered a rupture of the biceps femoris in his left leg on Dec. 7, during the tough league loss against Celta (0-2). The injury involved the proximal tendon and kept him sidelined until a few days ago, when he began to join training sessions with the rest of his teammates.

A player much loved by the group and who stands out for his leadership on the field, Eder has suffered a real ordeal with injuries. The previous two years, he had to face a complete cruciate ligament rupture in both knees, losing the stability and consistency of yesteryear.

At 28 years old, the defender hopes to quickly recover from his latest mishap and lead the defensive line alongside Antonio Rudiger, who has again performed at an optimal level.
