Mustangs' explosive offense and dominant defense showcase talent as key players vie for NFL futures in the prestigious Senior Bowl.

The SMU Mustangs are coming off a 9-4 campaign in 2025, and are 38-16 under coach Rhett Lashlee. A hallmark of Lashlee’s teams is a good passing offense. The Mustangs fielded the No. 2 passing unit in the ACC last season, at 283 yards per game.

Led by talented quarterback Kevin Jennings and receivers Jordan Hudson and Romello Brinson, the Mustangs posted a six-point win over No. 10 Miami, which finished the season as national runner-up.

Hudson and Brinson, along with defensive tackle Jeffrey M’Ba, are headed to Mobile to play in the prestigious Senior Bowl on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama, at Hancock Whitney Stadium.

Jordan Hudson

Hudson led the Mustangs in receiving with 61 catches for 766 yards and six touchdowns. He posted three games over 100 yards receiving, including a season-high 11 catches for 136 yards in the win over the Hurricanes. As a result, Hudson was named third-team All-ACC. For his collegiate career, Hudson caught 144 passes for 1,787 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Romello Brinson

Brinson was second on the team with 43 catches for 638 yards and three touchdowns. He logged two games of over 100 yards receiving, including a season-high 126 yards and two touchdowns in a three-point loss to Baylor.

Jeffrey M’Ba

Last season, M’Ba recorded 42 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. In four games, M’Ba logged five or more tackles.

The Senior Bowl is the place to be if you want to play in the NFL. Pro football personnel descend upon the city of Mobile, Alabama with the sole mission of finding their next big star.

Since 1950, the Senior Bowl has sent many collegiate stars to the next level and is the premier event in college all-star games. It is an exclusive club that draws its members by invitation only.

The Senior Bowl greatly enhances a player’s chance of getting drafted into the NFL. Hudson and Brinson will carry on the legacy of SMU receiver Rashee Rice, who played in the 2023 game.

Rice was drafted in the second round by the Chiefs in 2023, and by the end of that season, he was a Super Bowl champion (LVIII). He set an NFL record for receptions in the postseason by a rookie with 26.

If Hudson and Brinson can have a good week at the Senior Bowl, both in practice and speaking with officials from individual teams, then both could hear their name called at the draft in the Steel City of Pittsburgh in April.
