The Frogs clutch victory in a nail-biter, stifling Kansas rallies to maintain Big 12 lead and extend historic home win streak.

TCU women’s basketball didn’t make it easy, but the Horned Frogs once again proved why Schollmaier Arena has been a nightmare for visiting teams.

No. 12 TCU built an early cushion, absorbed multiple Kansas comeback attempts, and held on for a tense 79-77 win Thursday night to remain tied for first place in the Big 12.

The Horned Frogs looked unstoppable out of the gate. Crisp ball movement and hot shooting fueled a dominant opening quarter, as TCU connected early on field goals and raced to a double-digit lead. Everything flowed early, from drive-and-kick 3s to clean finishes in transition, setting the tone for what initially felt like a comfortable night.

Kansas, however, refused to go away. The Jayhawks slowly chipped into the deficit with physical play inside, turning paint touches into points and free throws.

By the time the fourth quarter arrived, what once looked like a runaway had turned into a one-possession game, with Kansas applying real pressure late.

TCU answered when it mattered most. Olivia Miles steadied the offense with timely buckets and poise.  Clara Bielefeld delivered one of the game’s biggest moments, knocking down a clutch baseline 3-pointer that gave the Frogs breathing room inside the final minutes.

Veronica Sheffey and Miles followed with midrange jumpers that appeared to seal the outcome.

Even then, the drama wasn’t finished. Missed free throws opened the door, and a last-second Kansas shot from beyond the arc cut the lead to two, forcing TCU to survive a frantic final second.

Despite foul trouble, the Horned Frogs closed it out, preserving both the win and their NCAA-best home winning streak, now at 38 games.

Miles celebrated her birthday with another standout performance, leading TCU with 20 points and six assists while extending her streak of dominant outings.

Donovyn Hunter provided an early spark with three first-quarter triples, while Marta Suarez was productive on both ends before fouling out.

Bielefeld’s efficient scoring off the bench gave TCU a crucial lift, and the Frogs’ ability to convert turnovers into points proved decisive.

Kansas leaned heavily on its interior scoring, producing a big night from Jaliya Davis and S’Mya Nichols, but TCU’s perimeter shooting ultimately made the difference.

With the victory, TCU stays neck-and-neck with Baylor atop the Big 12 standings and continues to build momentum heading into a massive road test.

The Horned Frogs travel to Lubbock on Sunday for a ranked showdown with No. 21 Texas Tech in a nationally televised matchup on FS1.
