The masse shot๐ฒ Try it & impress yer mates.๐

Now in Snooker or pool you can use this type of shot when you are "snookered" (cannot see the object ball in a direct line) and you can't see a way of going off a cushion/s using the angles that would be simple to hit the object ball. Below is a short video of some quality examples with two outstanding ones I will mark.
Now the first shot in this video is not technically a masse but rather cued down as the distance was short and was for a pot. But Jimmy White pulls off an amazing masse (the best in the video) at @ 2" 37' . Incredible down force and accuracy to make the ball literally spin 90 degrees as a right-hander and then travel up the table to indeed hit the object ball. Another at @ 4' 35' by the legendary Steve Davis snookered behind the black to swerve round to hit a red with safety in mind too.
If you watch all of this less than 5 minute video, the key isn't always power as some are compiled over short distances. The key is touch and accuracy๐ Knowing the nap of the table (how heavy is the cloth and which way do the threads run), where to strike the ball in a downward motion and how far to tilt the cue, and how much power to apply. Simple eh๐คช Took me literally years of practice to masse as accurate as Jimmy and Steve but yes I can๐. On a pool table much easier, larger balls, smaller table and so on.
So, next time yer down the pub, and obviously after a bit of practice in secret, on the pool table don't go for the cushion shot ...go for the masse๐ and scare the hell out of your opponent that you know what you are doing.๐
Can you do this? Have you tried? Have fun and if you like the green baize, post something up๐๐๐๐๐๐
