Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has set a lot of records this year, but he probably doesn’t care too much about most of them. One that does matter, though, is that Nix is closing in on the most wins for any quarterback in his first two years, and the irony here is that record was set by former Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wilson won 24 games in those first two seasons, and the Broncos have one 21 of the games Nix has started in his first two, according to a story written by Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Nix has four games left go top Wilson’s mark, so the Broncos will have to win out for him to make it.

Wilson burst onto the scene for the Seattle Seahawks back in 2012-2013, and he was a revelation for the franchise. He wasn't a top pick or anything close, so the expectations weren’t all that high, but Wilson’s unique combination of a strong arm, running talent and ability to make throws on the run quickly made him one of the most fun quarterbacks in the league to watch. Wilson is now on the back nine after a disastrous tenure in Denver, but he'll almost certainly make the Hall of Fame when he calls it a career.

Nix’s backstory is very different, of course, but his winning ways are just as surprising in completely different ways. Denver coach Sean Payton shocked the NFL world when he drafted Nix in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, and the skeptics quickly sharpened their knives in anticipation of an epic failure.

But it hasn’t happened. Instead, Nix is now one of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the league, and he’s authored a series of epic comeback wins that have been a revelation for the franchise.

Getting those last four to beat out Wilson won’t be easy, though. Denver has a nasty schedule for the last month that starts this Sunday against Green Bay, and the fact the Broncos are home underdogs indicates the level of skepticism that still exists about Nix’s ability to seal the deal here.

If he does do it, though, he’ll join some elite company. Other quarterbacks who have one 22 in their first two seasons include Andrew Luck, Dak Prescott and Ben Roethlisberger. And if the Broncos can win out, they’ll also clinch the number one seed and home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.
