Somehow, someway, the Denver Broncos keep on winning football games. In Week 15, that happened as Denver got the 34-26 win over the Green Bay Packers.
The Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs to stay right on the Broncos' heels in the AFC West race, but Sean Payton's team just isn't losing any games as of late.
Frank Schwab of Yahoo Sports had his winners and losers, and he had the 12-2 Broncos as winner, calling them "under the radar."
"It's hard to have the NFL's best record in mid-December and not have much buzz. The Denver Broncos just keep winning games. They were expected by many to lose at home to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday but Denver won 34-26. An offense that has been criticized did just fine against the Packers' strong defense, though two touchdowns came after Micah Parsons left the game with what is feared to be a torn ACL," Schwab wrote.
To make things even more impressive, Denver hasn't lost a game since September, and they just keep finding ways to win.
"The Broncos have a fantastic defense, a great head coach in Sean Payton and an offense that put up 391 yards and 34 points on the Packers. There's still a race between the Broncos and Patriots for the No. 1 seed, but the Patriots' loss Sunday gives the Broncos a one-game lead with three games to go. Perhaps if the Broncos get the No. 1 seed, they'll start to get widespread attention as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Or maybe not. It hasn't happened yet," Schwab added.
The Broncos only two losses have come against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2 (by 1 point) and the Chargers in Week 3 (by 3 points).
Both of those games were on the road, and since then, this team has not lost a single game.
They have been tested time and time again, and they have looked bad quite a few times, such as the London showdown against the New York Jets which Denver won, 13-11.
Yet, here we are. The regular season has three games remaining, and the Bronco are in control of their destiny for the AFC West crown and, perhaps, the No. 1 overall seed in the conference in what has been a marvelous turnaround in the Mile High City.
So, even though they are under the radar, the winners label is well deserved.
