Somehow, someway, the Denver Broncos pulled out a victory in Week 7.
After the third quarter, the New York Giants were up, 19-0. The Broncos offense had failed to score up until that point, but things turned around in a major way.
The Broncos scored 33 points in the fourth quarter and won the game, 33-32, as Will Lutz hit the game-winning field goal as time expired.
Bo Nix finished with a 27-of-50 clip for 279 yards with two touchdowns, and he also added a pair of rushing scores on the day.
After the game, head coach Sean Payton said they "had to find a way to clean up our mess," and they did just that in the final 15 minutes of the game.
However, Payton doesn't seem thrilled about the slow start, and he aims to be more efficient, per Aric DiLalla of Broncos.com.
"We're going to have to be a lot more efficient in the first half of games."
The good news, if there is some, is that the Broncos have scored a lot of points recently in the fourth quarter despite starting slow, as DiLalla mentioned.
"The Broncos have outscored their opponents 61-13 in the fourth quarter over the last four weeks. They've also recorded three consecutive fourth-quarter comebacks and are 4-2 in one-score games this year."
It was an opposite result in Week 6 as the Broncos scored 10 first-quarter points but then scored just a field goal the rest of the way in an ugly 13-11 win over the New York Jets.
This time, the Broncos didn't score at all until the fourth quarter, and the offense woke up when it mattered most.
Still, Payton hopes the offense can improve and be more consistent, and scoring 33 fourth-quarter points is not something that will happen all the time.
In Week 8, Denver faces the Dallas Cowboys, and the Broncos are 5-2 and riding a four-game winning streak.
