Jerry Jeudy addresses crucial goal-line drop against the Chicago Bears, which became the latest in a long line of miscues for the struggling Cleveland Browns wideout

Jerry Jeudy's miscues have been present in just about every game the Cleveland Browns have played in 2025.

He added another one to his ledger on Sunday, during the Browns' 31-3 loss to the Chicago Bears. And this one may have just been his worst one yet.

Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders zipped an absolutely perfect pass to Jeudy as he raced down the sideline near the goal line. With tight coverage from Jaylon Johnson, Jeudy went up to make a play on the ball, which Sanders placed right on the patented No. 3 of his jersey.

By time he came down, the ball had slipped through his hands and into the welcoming arms of Johnson, who used Jeudy's leg to help snare the Bears' second interception of the game. The play wiped out what was the most promising drive of the game for Cleveland.

“[Johnosn] made a good play,” Jeudy said after the game. We were just fighting and he made a good play."

For 2024 Jerry Jeudy, who racked up over 1,200 yards and and made his first-ever Pro Bowl appearance, the miss would have been more easily forgiven. In 2025, though, these issues have defined Jeudy's season, making it a much tougher pill to swallow.

Nobody knows that more than Jeudy himself, who admitted it's a catch he needs to make as the team's No. 1 WR.

"I think Shedeur threw a good pass,” Jeudy stated. “It was just a good football play overall by, but that’s something I expect to come down with.”

Entering Sunday, Jeudy was tied for the league lead in drops with eight, according to PFF. A few weeks back, against the Las Vegas Raiders, Jeudy also cost the Browns a potential scoring drive when he got a little loose with the football after a 39-yard reception and had the ball punched out from behind for a fumble, which the Raiders recovered.

It's been one thing after another for Jeudy this season. Which is why his quarterback wasn't going to pile on after Sunday's loss to Chicago.

"Nah it's gonna happen," Sanders said of the costly play. "It's gonna happen, so, it is what it is. I'm not one to ever kick somebody down when they're down. He understands it's a big play and I'm sure he's hard on himself, so there's no need for me to be extra and do that."

The Sanders-to-Jeudy connection has gotten off to a rocky start in their four-and-a-half games together. At this point, the only way out is through for Jeudy. He has three games left to continue getting on the same page as Sanders, and try to find some consistency to carry over into 2026.
