Many Kansas City Chiefs fans wanted the team to make a move at the trade deadline, but the fact it was during the bye week may have played a role in them staying pat.

The Kansas City Chiefs didn't make a move at the trade deadline, much to the chagrin of many of the team's fans. The Chiefs fell to 5-4 on the season after the  28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 9.

If the playoffs started today, the Chiefs wouldn't be in the playoffs. This is a position that the team hasn't been in quite some time, and fans are starting to panic.

However, Brett Veach is one of the most calculated general managers in the game, and he isn't going to make a move just to make one.

One other important thing to take into account is that the Chiefs are going into their bye, and the team has been terrific the last four seasons when coming out of a bye.

Andy Reid is one of the best coaches in NFL history when it comes to coming out of a bye. He has a record of 21-4 after a bye, which is the best for any coach who has been a coach for at least 10 games. Last season, they were 10-2 after the bye, with one of those losses being a Week 18 loss to the Broncos when the Chiefs rested all of their starters.

Sunday against the Bills had everyone in Kansas City in full panic about needing to make moves. However, fans have seen this story too many times to overreact. The Bills played a phenomenal game. Josh Allen had the highest completion percentage of his career, while Patrick Mahomes played the worst game of his NFL career.

Veach and Reid have been in this situation many times together in Kansas City, and they rarely make a move. Last season, the Chiefs went and traded for Deandre Hopkins, but that was a rare occasion. The Chiefs were decimated at the wide receiver position, and it was a move that they had to make.

As much as Hall would have been a great fit for the Chiefs, he is a free agent in the off-season. Veach has never been the guy to trade a top 100 pick for a potential two month rental.

The Chiefs have a huge game coming off the bye, as they will be taking on the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are currently leading the AFC West, and a loss in that game would all but end the run of nine consecutive division titles for the Chiefs.

It might be hard right now, but the Chiefs have been in this exact same situation, and they have proven to come out of the bye a far better team.
