Cowboys' Dak Prescott Found 'Pretty Cool Weapon' For 2026 cover image

Yes, there's CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, but you can add another player to the list of Dak Prescott weapons for next season.

Every season, one player low on the depth chart makes a big splash out of nowhere, and for the Dallas Cowboys, that player in 2025 was receiver Ryan Flournoy.

Granted, not completely out of nowhere, as Ryan had himself a good training camp, developing a good wavelength with Dak Prescott.

But with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens the top dogs, and Jalen Tolbert expected to continue his improvement, "Flo" was down on the depth chart.

However, he wasn't for long.

Whenever Flournoy got his chances under Brian Schottenheimer, whether it be special teams or on offense, he produced.

Flournoy managed 475 yards and four touchdowns from 40 receptions in his 16 games (four starts).

That might not look like much, but context is key here.

Of Flournoy's 40 receptions, 29 of them went for first downs. I lost count of how many times Dak looked Ryan's way on third down for a conversion, and got it.

Flo was a chain mover, folks.

And as the year progressed, Flournoy improved, notching two 100-yard games, one against the New York Jets and then against the Detroit Lions.

"This guy, he is the same every day," Schottenheimer said of Flournoy. "He doesn't change whether it's training camp, early in the season practice habits, end of season practice habits. He's one of the first guys on the practice field. He's one of the last guys off the practice fields."

Consistency is what Schottenheimer preached all year, and those who were consistent found themselves on the field on gameday.

Those who weren't (Jaydon Blue) had to work hard at their craft in the background.

Such has been Flournoy's emergence that he's overtaken Tolbert as No. 3 receiver behind Lamb and Pickens, entering the offseason as a genuine weapon for Dak, not a bit-part player.

"He's just so confident," Schottenheimer added. "He's playing with so much confidence. His ability to catch contested passes and to finish with the ball in his hands is unique. Yeah, Dak Prescott's found another pretty cool weapon."

Of course, the battle is only half over.

Yes, Flournoy exploded in 2025, but as Tolbert, who led Dallas in touchdowns in 2024 with seven, can attest, the hardest part is staying there.

Ryan won't want to suffer the same fate as Tolbert, who did nothing wrong. He was just overtaken by someone better.

And going by Schottenheimer's words, Flo is expected to be a big part of the offense next season as a "cool weapon."
