Hi Roundtable Community!

The “Bohr” blockchain Upgrade for the Planq Network brings a range of key improvements which will be explored in detail in this post. if you want the lengthy explanation check out the blog here!

About Planq Network:
Planq Network is a Layer-1 EVM chain within the Cosmos Ecosystem. Planq Network focusses on mobile adoption within the web3 space. Check out Planq Network on Coinmarketcap here:

Cosmos ledger support

Cosmos Ledger support is now available on the Planq Network, enhancing security for users. With this integration, Ledger hardware wallet users, including those with the Ledger Nano S or Nano X, can securely manage Planq assets. This highly requested feature allows users to stake tokens, access dApps, and transfer assets while maintaining enhanced security.

Cosmos SDK upgrade to 0.47.14

Planq Network is currently on Cosmos SDK version 0.46.3. With Bohr we are moving to version 0.47.14.

  1. Performance Boost: Enhanced transaction processing speed for even quicker transactions.
  2. Bug Fixes: Stability improvements addressing various issues for a more reliable network.
  3. Governance Enhancements: Streamlined proposal handling and voting mechanisms for better community participation.
  4. Interchain Features: Improved support for Interchain Accounts and IBC functionality for seamless cross-chain interactions.
  5. Security Updates: Enhanced security measures to protect against potential vulnerabilities.
  6. Updated Documentation: Resources for developers to adapt to new features and changes.

EVM upgrade to support PUSH0 and latest improvements

Planq has upgraded its EVM support with Bohr, now including the PUSH0 opcode and other recent improvements. This aligns Planq with the latest Ethereum updates, enabling developers to build more efficient smart contracts with reduced gas costs and improved performance. The upgrade allows for more optimized dApps and offers users a faster, more cost-effective experience, reflecting Planq's commitment to integrating the best of Cosmos and Ethereum.

Interchain accounts and Liquid Staking

Planq Network now supports Interchain Accounts and Liquid Staking, enabling new cross-chain interactions and more staking flexibility. Interchain Accounts allow users to interact with other Cosmos-based blockchains directly from the Planq Network, making it easier to transfer tokens, execute smart contracts, and participate in governance across multiple chains from a single account.

Please note that while Planq Network now supports liquid staking and interchain accounts, this does not mean there are already features using this technology. As of now, no liquid-staked version of Planq Network’s $PLQ is available.

Switch from Tendermint to Comet-BFT

With the Bohr upgrade, Planq Network has transitioned from Tendermint to Comet-BFT, enhancing performance, scalability, and network stability. Comet-BFT offers faster block processing, increased throughput, and better handling of validators, making the network more resilient and secure. This upgrade keeps Planq aligned with the latest advancements in the Cosmos ecosystem, ensuring a reliable platform for developers and users.

Automatic IBC coin to ERC20 conversion when receiving via IBC

Whenever you receive tokens from other Cosmos-based chains through IBC, they will automatically be converted into their equivalent ERC20 tokens on the Planq Network. No need to use Delta Swap convert when sending tokens to Planq Network initially!

This feature simplifies the user experience, allowing for seamless cross-chain transfers and immediate access to the broader Planq Network EVM ecosystem. When you want to send back the tokens, you still need to convert the tokens via Delta Swap Convert.

IBC transfer escrow accounts are migrated to ‘ModuleAccount’ type

Planq Network has standardized IBC transfer escrow accounts to the 'ModuleAccount' type, improving security and efficiency in managing assets during transfers. This change streamlines account management and provides a more secure and reliable framework for cross-chain transactions, paving the way for future upgrades.
