ETH has grown so big that some people no longer consider it as an Altcoin. A few years ago there was speculation that it could flip BTC. This  now seems to be an unlikely prospect.

While ETH is here to stay, its position as #2 behind BTC is open to challenges. BNB was the #3 in terms of Market capitalization until it was flipped by SOL. Can SOL make further progress and eventually flip ETH as well. Other major Altcoins that did well in the previous bull cycle includes LINK, ADA, AVAX, Polygon amd Polkadot but these have not done well in the current cycle.
