Dodgers secure speedy outfielder Michael Siani. Will his defensive prowess and stolen base threat finally find a big-league home in Los Angeles?

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially added outfielder Michael Siani to their organization after claiming him off waivers from the Atlanta Braves, the team announced Friday. The Braves had designated Siani for assignment earlier in the week following a roster move to add veteran outfielder Mike Yastrzemski to their 40-man group.

Siani, 26, has bounced around the major leagues since his debut and now gets a fresh opportunity with one of baseball’s most consistent contenders. While his time with the Braves was brief, the Dodgers were able to make room on their 40-man roster to accommodate the claim without needing an immediate additional move. Officially, the roster figure went to 39 players with Siani’s addition; Los Angeles plans to fill the final slot once it finalizes the signing of reliever Edwin Díaz.

Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds out of William Penn Charter School in Pennsylvania, Siani made his major league debut with Cincinnati in September 2022. Over parts of four seasons with the Reds and Cardinals, he has established himself as a defensively capable outfielder with plus speed but an offense that has yet to fully translate at the big-league level.

Through the 2025 season, Siani’s major league line sits at approximately a .221 batting average with two home runs and around 20 RBIs in 344 career at-bats. He has also shown the ability to swipe bases in the minors and has played across all three outfield spots, giving him a bit of versatility that appeals to clubs seeking depth on the bench.

While he may not be in line for regular playing time in 2026, he brings potential value as a late-inning defensive option, pinch-runner, or injury call-up who could contribute to the big-league squad.
