The Philadelphia Eagles are 6-2 as they aim to win their second straight Super Bowl championship, and for as good as they have been, it's very clear that the Eagles are not flawless.
Philadelphia's aerial attack was a major issue earlier in the season, and its defense has been a problem all year, although Philly attempted to rectify the latter at the trade deadline by swinging deals for cornerbacks Michael Carter II and Jaire Alexander as well as acquiring edge rusher Jaelan Phillips.
But the Eagles also have more trouble brewing at another position, and they will have to wait until the offseason to fix it. That position is tight end.
Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon feels that tight end is Philadelphia's most prominent hole, and given the circumstances, it makes sense.
"Dallas Goedert has scored seven touchdowns this season, but he's 30 now and slated to hit free agency in March," Gagnon wrote. "Even if the Eagles keep him around, his rate-based numbers and age indicate an inevitable decline. Philly doesn't really have anything else of note at the position."

However, it's pretty obvious that Goedert is declining. While he has reached the end zone seven times in 2025, he has logged 30 catches for just 289 yards, good for a career-worst average of 9.6 yards per grab. Plus, he has dealt with injury issues over the last several seasons.
It seems rather unlikely that Philadelphia will retain him in free agency unless he is amenable to taking a hometown discount on a short-term deal, and even if Philly does keep Goedert, it will still need to address the tight end position elsewhere.
The Eagles can look at trying to sign someone like Isaiah Likely or Kyle Pitts in free agency, but it seems more likely that general manager Howie Roseman will attempt to find an answer in the NFL Draft, Philadelphia has experienced considerable success with tight ends.
Philly will face the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
