Philadelphia Eagles star RB Saquon Barkley had a costly fumble on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
In a tie game during the fourth quarter, the Eagles had the ball in field goal range when Barkley fumbled the ball after catching a pass from QB Jalen Hurts.
The Eagles, who were up 21-0 against the Cowboys, didn't score in the second half and lost by a final score of 24-21.
"I just let the team down in that moment," Barkley said after the game. "So that one is going to sting. But being in this profession, you're going to make plays and you're going to have mistakes. You just got to respond. Go back to the drawing board. We got a short week, and I just got to get right for the team."
Barkley was held to just 22 yards on 10 carries against the Cowboys. The superstar has only 684 rushing yards on the season. He had 2,005 yards last season.
"I'm a big believer that the run game starts with me and ends with me," Barkley said. "So I'm in a little funk right now. I've had funks like this before. Just got to break it. And the only way I know how is by flushing this, working my butt off, and getting ready for my next opportunity. ... Just didn't play good. Didn't play even close to good, to be honest. But I'm a big boy. I'm a man at the end of the day. I'm going to own it and get ready for next week."
The Eagles face the Chicago Bears on black Friday. They have no time to mope around after choking against the Cowboys.
"I kind of know how we're going to respond," Barkley said. "I know the team that we have. It's not our first time losing. (We) played a great team. They made a lot of moves. It was a different team. That was not the same team we played Week 1. We knew that. They played with a lot of emotion. I feel like the team that we have, we're going to respond. We have Chicago, so just get ready for them."
The Eagles and Bears are 8-3. Philadelphia will be favored to beat Chicago since the game is at home.
