How Did Jalen Hurts Play in Eagles' Collapse to Cowboys? cover image

Jalen Hurts had three touchdowns for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Dallas Cowboys.

If you look at the box score of the Philadelphia Eagles-Dallas Cowboys game, you will see that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had three touchdowns.

What you won't see is that Hurts and the Eagles had zero points in the second half.

Philadelphia went up 21-0 against Dallas. It looked like it was going to be a blowout win for the defending Super Bowl champions.

Instead, the Eagles lost by a final score of 24-21 despite Hurts going 27 of 39 for 289 yards and a touchdown and having seven carries for 33 yards and two touchdowns.

NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report is giving Hurts a "B" for his performance against the Cowboys. It probably would have been an "A" had Hurts and the Eagles done anything in the second half and won the game.

"A strong start does enough to push up Hurts' final grade, but the poor finish says far more about the inconsistencies currently found in Philadelphia's offense," Sobleski wrote.

The Eagles' offense vanished after scoring on the first three drives of the game and the franchise gave up a 21-point lead for the first time since 1999.

Overall, it was an ugly end to what started as a terrific game for Hurts and Co.

"I think it's a matter of the execution, the discipline, and the focus in what we do," Hurts said after the game. "There are a lot of instances where it's showing up, and we've been able to figure it out and will ourselves to a win. Tonight, we didn't. We played a hell of a first half, and we didn't play not even close enough to our standard in the second half with things that take no talent, honestly."

It's a quick turnaround for the Eagles, who face the 8-3 Chicago Bears at home on black Friday.

If Philadelphia loses at home to Chicago after blowing the Dallas game, don't be surprised at all if Eagles fans boo loudly on black Friday.
