Did the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Buffalo Bills? Yes.
Did QB Jalen Hurts and the offense play well? No.
The Eagles beat the Bills, 13-12, with Hurts and Co. putting up zero points in the second half. Philly finished with 190 total yards (108 passing yards, 82 rushing yards) against Buffalo and went only 3/13 on third down.
Hurts, who went 13/27 through the air for 110 yards and one touchdown against the Bills, got a "D' from NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report for his outing in Buffalo. The only reason Hurts didn't get an "F" is that the Eagles won.
"Once again, the Philadelphia Eagles offense sputtered yet the team found a way to win," Sobleski wrote. "Jalen Hurts certainly didn't help the situation. Hurts didn't complete a single pass during Sunday's second half. According to ESPN Research (h/t Benjamin Solak), the Eagles' starter became the first quarterback since at least 1978 to go 0-for-7 or worse in multiple second halves this season.
"At times, the Eagles are winning in spite of Hurts, not because of him. Philadelphia only beat the Bills because Josh Allen missed a wide open Khalil Shakir during the two-point conversion in the game's final seconds."
The Eagles may be in the playoffs, but they do not look like a Super Bowl contender right now. Their offense has been below average all season.
If Philadelphia' offense doesn't turn things around in the playoffs, it will be a short postseason for the defending Super Bowl champions.
“I think we got into a good rhythm and good groove (in the first half),” Hurts said. “We were able to move the ball down the field in the first half, and in the second half, a lot of things that I have to watch the tape on to be able to pinpoint, but obviously maintaining aggression is one thing and maintaining rhythmic play, then just going out there and executing. So you always look yourselves in the mirror with that.”
Hurts has 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns on the season. Those are really good numbers.
However, the Eagles are 19th in the NFL in points per game and 23rd in passing yards. That won't cut it.
