In the Philadelphia Eagles' 29-18 win against the Washington Commanders on Saturday, Eagles QB Jalen Hurts went 22 of 30 through the air for 185 yards and two touchdowns.
The reigning Super Bowl MVP also had seven carries for 40 yards.
The Eagles clinched the NFC East by beating the Commanders and NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report gave Hurts a B+ grade for his performance on Saturday.
"As part of the constant questioning, Jalen Hurts has been placed under a microscope with each week's performance scrutinized to the nth degree," Sobleski wrote. "Interestingly, Hurts hasn't thrown for 200 yards in five of the Eagles' last eight games. Philadelphia won each of those contests. It lost when the quarterback needed to do more. The previous statistic isn't an indictment of Hurts' play. Instead, it shows how talented and balanced the offense can be, with the quarterback pulling the strings."
After turning the ball over five times in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers, Hurts has bounced back in a big way the last two weeks against the Las Vegas Raiders and Commanders. He has five passing touchdowns and zero interceptions.
The Eagles' offense has been below average all season. However, Hurts and Co. have scored 60 points in their last two games against the Raiders and Commanders.
"I think right now, we're finding ways to win. I think we'll find ways to win, but it takes a component of complementary football, that's all, and that's always the name of the game, and being able to be efficient. Finish runs, stay ahead of the sticks, be intentional about what we're doing, set up things, sequence it in the way it's supposed to be sequenced, and ultimately be able to adjust," Hurts said.
"Every game is different. You know, every game is different. We saw us under center last week. I was doing more, you know, lots of play action and, even surprised. So, I think we can go down every game this year and see a difference in approach, and I think that's okay for us to be, for that to be who we are. You just have to be very smart in what we do and when we do it, and sequence it in the right way, then ultimately go out there and execute and make the plays."
Can the Eagles win back-to-back Super Bowls? Only time will tell, but for the first time in a while, vibes are good in Philly again.
