The Philadelphia Eagles are being connected to a major sleeper in the NFL Draft.

While the Philadelphia Eagles' defense has certainly been stingy throughout the second half of the NFL season, one area in which they can still use some help is the cornerback position.

Quinyon Mitchell is terrific, but the Eagles could afford to upgrade the other cornerback spot, so it would not be the least bit surprising to see them use an early NFL Draft pick on a corner.

Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department has connected Philadelphia to San Diego State star Chris Johnson as a potential draft fit, and B/R's Daniel Harms seems to believe Johnson could be one of the best players at his position in this year's class.

"Johnson is one of the best-kept secrets in college football and another extremely talented cornerback playing his best football in 2025," Harms wrote. "He's been one of the best corners in the country this season as a senior, and he's putting up some impressive numbers."

Johnson racked up 49 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, four interceptions (including two pick-sixes) and nine passes defended this season.

"A precise technician on the outside, Johnson displays the scheme versatility to excel with his eyes in off, zone, and in a man coverage phone booth," Harms added. "He trusts in his athleticism to flip his hips and run while being patient and reading manipulation tactics."

Johnson arrived at San Diego State in 2022 and has spent his entire collegiate career with the Aztecs, earning serious playing time as soon as his sophomore campaign.

The Eagles have been employing a combination of Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo as their No. 2 corner this year, and while it hasn't given them prominent issues throughout the back half of the campaign, it proved to be a major problem early on.

There is no question Philadelphia should look to upgrade there, and Philly doesn't have a ton of cap space to sign any cornerbacks in free agency (and the market is rather thin for corners this coming offseason, anyway).

We'll see if the Eagles will look to spend an early draft pick on a cornerback this April.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia has already clinched the NFC East division title heading into its Week 18 matchup with the Washington Commanders.
