Among the frustration going around the Philadelphia Eagles locker room, it seems like A.J. Brown has clearly been the most disgruntled.
Even when the Eagles' offense was clicking throughout the past few years, Brown was typically making comments about why he wanted the football more and how things had to change.
Unfortunately, for the star wide receiver, that's only gotten worse throughout the year.
And to make matters even worse, it feels like, at times, Brown won't look in the mirror and admit that he's also part of the problem.
I'm glad that some can view it as such, as former star wide receiver Chad Ochocinco spoke about what he saw in Brown’s game against the Detroit Lions.
"The fact that I can tell you, based on A.J. Brown's alignment, I can tell you exactly the route he's running. That's not good. That's not good, because if I know it and I'm not watching film, I'm just watching the games each and every Sunday, what do you think those that are playing across from him are doing? He had 11 targets, but it's the same stuff over and over and over. If he lines up two yard outside the number, if he's by himself, he's running a hitch. If it's two by two and Smitty's on his side with him or the tight ends on his side when he is off the ball, he's running a slant. It's like the same thing. If he's inside, he is running the quick out or the stick route. It's just the same thing."
"I understand his frustrations. Not only is he not putting up the numbers he'd like to, but you know what's actually coming based on his alignment and where he is. Route recognition, formation recognition, and the tendencies are all the same,” he said.
For someone like Brown, the question for him has always been centered on whether he's going to be emotionally checked out of a game.
If he doesn't get the football early on, he can't allow himself to feel a certain way.
Brown needs to continue to line up and run the right routes, looking to get himself open for this offense.
